Event Brings Together Educators and Influencers from University of Florida, Orlando Economic Partnership and UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management
ORLANDO, Fla. (November 21, 2019) – ITEC Entertainment Corporation, an industry leader of worldwide entertainment solutions, today announced it will be hosting a reception at the IAAPA Expo 2019 in Orlando, FL. The event will connect leaders in themed entertainment with some of the most prominent educators of Central Florida’s ever-expanding talent pool. The private event will be held on Thursday, November 21st, at ITEC Entertainment’s booth #2262 in the N. Exhibit Hall B.
Central Florida is widely regarded as the theme park capital of the world but due to the highly specialized skills required from designers, engineers, technicians, and project managers, companies must look outside the state to meet certain talent needs. At the same time, the industry continues to expand globally, with its principles being applied to non-traditional and diverse projects. This reception aims to foster a dialog among those with a vested interest in ensuring students get the necessary skills and training to keep Central Florida’s future at the forefront of themed entertainment.
The event will connect the Orlando Economic Partnership, an economic and community development organization, and two of the leading universities in Central Florida for themed environment design and management – University of Florida (UF) College of Design, Construction and Planning as well as University of Central Florida’s (UCF) The Rosen College of Hospitality Management. The new program track from UF, Master of Science in Architectural Studies in Themed Environments Integration, and the Rosen College’s successful Entertainment Management Program were developed in consultation with Bill Coan, ITEC Entertainment CEO and advisory board member for both universities.
“I am honored to participate on the advisory board and bring together two of the most prestigious universities of Florida to help in their efforts to better serve and promote the themed entertainment field to domestic and international students,” said Bill Coan, CEO and President of ITEC Entertainment. “Not only do we require more talent to keep up with tremendous global demand, but talent that is adapting to our industry’s evolving needs beyond theme parks and attractions. IAAPA is the perfect place to discuss these topics with those committed to attract and train aspiring young professionals in our burgeoning industry.”
“We have one of the most coveted programs designed specifically for themed environments that attracts students from around the world,” said Steven Grant, Program Director of the Themed Environments Integration program at UF’s CityLab Orlando. “It is our responsibility as educators to foster strong relationships with prominent industry leaders in order to ensure our curriculum delivers the training and skills that support the growing needs of the themed entertainment industry and prepare our students for their professions.”
“As property development continues to become more experience-based, students must understand increasingly diverse management styles and the unique needs that clients today demand,” said Youcheng Wang, Ph.D., Dean and William C. Peeper Preeminent Professor in Destination Marketing at Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida. “UCF is constantly striving to ensure Central Florida remains the centerpiece of talent entering the industry for many years to come and that our students gain the competitive advantage of being in such close proximity to the premier designers in the field.”
“The Orlando Economic Partnership prides itself on strengthening the Orlando region’s innovation ecosystem,” says Sheena Fowler, VP of Innovation for the Partnership. “We are proud to work alongside our industry partners in the area for themed entertainment to foster the next generation of creative and technical talent for Orlando’s most prominent industries.”
